I wanted to paint that specific kind of quiet you only get on a snowy night — just one street lamp doing its job, casting a warm pool of light onto a path nobody's walking down. No people, no noise, just snowfall and a little glow holding back the dark. It's one of the simplest scenes I've painted, and somehow one of my favorites.
About This Painting
Watercolor and gouache mixed media on a 2.5"x3.5" ACEO card. The night sky is built from layered indigo and blue watercolor washes, with opaque white gouache flicked in for falling snow and dry-brushed along the lamp post for a dusting of frost. The lamp's glow is built up in warm yellow gouache, glazed softly into the surrounding blue so it feels like it's actually lighting the scene.
This is a one-of-a-kind original — once it's gone, this exact painting won't exist again.
