Meet the newest member of the Dear Prince collection: a frog who has heard the "kiss a frog, find your prince" story before and is deeply unimpressed by it. One hand on her hip, the other holding up a red lollipop like a little scepter, heavy-lidded yellow eyes that say she is not here for anyone's fairy tale.
She's painted in gouache with fine ink outlines — flat, saturated green skin, a glassy chartreuse belly with a soft painted highlight, and those glossy yellow eyes rimmed in black. The lollipop's red and white stripes are the only pop of contrasting color against all that green, and I liked leaning into her attitude rather than making her cute and harmless.
The Dear Prince collection is my ongoing series of characters who really don't care about being rescued, transformed, or kissed into someone else's happy ending — they're already exactly who they want to be. This frog might be my favorite one yet.
She's painted at true ACEO size — 2.5" x 3.5", the same dimensions as a standard trading card. Every ACEO I make is a fully original, one-of-a-kind piece: no prints, no reproductions, just gouache, ink, and a few hours of quiet focus. If you're new here, ACEO stands for Art Cards, Editions and Originals — a beloved format among miniature art collectors because it's affordable to collect, easy to display in a card sleeve or mini frame, and every piece is truly one of a kind.
