I wanted to paint a face at total rest — eyes closed, no performance, just quiet. Her deep red hair does most of the emotional work here, falling in loose waves around a scattering of freckles I had way too much fun placing one by one.
About This Painting
Watercolor and gouache mixed media on a 2.5"x3.5" ACEO card. Her hair is built from layered warm red washes with fine gouache strands for shine, and the freckles and softly blushed cheeks are added last in delicate gouache dots.
