This one is pure breakfast fantasy — a fluffy stack of pancakes drowning in syrup, a slab of butter melting into every layer, and a couple of strawberries and a blueberry on top for good measure. I wanted the syrup to look like it was actually dripping down the sides, so I kept building up glossy layers of gouache until it looked wet enough to eat.
About This Painting
Watercolor and gouache mixed media on a 2.5"x3.5" ACEO card. The pancakes are built from warm golden-brown watercolor washes, with dense opaque gouache for the syrup drips, butter pat, and berries so they sit glossy and forward against the softer stack underneath.
This is a one-of-a-kind original — once it's gone, this exact painting won't exist again.
