This is one of my favorite scenes I've painted all year — a lone figure standing in a field, completely absorbed in her book, while an impossible column of starlight pours down around her. I kept layering the gold and green glow until it looked like the whole sky was leaning in to read along with her.
About This Painting
Watercolor and gouache mixed media on a 2.5"x3.5" ACEO card. The night sky is built from deep indigo watercolor washes, with dense clusters of gouache stars and a glowing central beam worked in warm gold and green to give it that magical, almost aurora-like light.
This is a one-of-a-kind original — once it's gone, this exact painting won't exist again.
