There's a fox in my sketchbook who clearly knows he's the best-dressed animal in the woods. He's mid-stride, tail curled up behind him, blue bow tie sitting just so under his chin, and the whole scene is scattered with little gold sparkles — like he's stepping into his own personal celebration. I couldn't help but give him that slightly smug, pleased-with-himself expression.
About This Painting
This piece is watercolor and gouache mixed media on a 2.5"x3.5" ACEO card. The fox's coat is built up in layered watercolor washes — warm ochre through to deep umber in the tail and ears — while the sparkles are opaque gouache, so they sit up off the paper with a little shimmer instead of soaking in flat. It's a small piece, but there's a lot of texture packed into it.
This is a one-of-a-kind original — once it's gone, this exact fox won't exist again.
