Not every painting needs a face to have personality — sometimes a handful of blueberries piled up with a couple of leaves is enough. I liked the challenge of getting that dusty, powdery bloom on the skins right, and setting them against a soft powder-blue background so the whole card feels like one cool, quiet color family.
About This Painting
Watercolor and gouache mixed media on a 2.5"x3.5" ACEO card. Each berry is layered in deep violet and blue watercolor washes, with a touch of opaque white gouache dry-brushed on to fake that soft, dusty bloom real blueberries have. The little green leaves are crisp gouache with visible vein lines, giving just enough contrast against all that purple-blue.
This is a one-of-a-kind original — once it's gone, this exact painting won't exist again.
